GIFTAIDTrustees have redoubled their efforts during the past year to resolve the question of a permanent home for St Albans Judo Club, and will be making even greater efforts during this year, our Diamond Jubilee. The Club's annual membership fees have been unchanged for more than a decade, and there is no plan to increase them. However, one thing we must do is to raise funds to help build our new dojo. As a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) we are already entitled to a rate rebate, and we make full use of this. But we are also allowed to operate giftaid. This Government scheme enables charities and CASCs to reclaim from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs the basic rate tax on any gift received from a UK income tax payer. This increases the value of the gift to the Club by some 25%. We hope that all members, old and new, as well as friends of the Club, will contribute any extra sum they can afford to our 'New Dojo' fund, knowing that the Government will also be making a contribution! All you have to do if you pay income tax, is to put your name, address and signature on our giftaid form, which we can then use to reclaim the tax. You can limit the giftaid to a single gift, or make it also apply to any future gift you might be generous enough to make - just by ticking a box. You should let us know if you wish to cancel the giftaid, or if you change your address. Giftaid forms are available at the dojo. If you can't see one, please ask. If you donate, you will be supporting another sixty years of personal development, sporting achievemnet and community service at St Albnas Judo Club. It will be much appreciated. Ian Wasey |
